Mrs. Douglas Mac Arthur presents American flag to U.S. hospital in Tokyo. Mrs. Douglas Mac Arthur, wife of U.S. General of the Army Mac Arthur, Supreme Allied Commander, presents an American Flag to the officers of the U.S. Army's 42nd General Hospital, located in Tokyo. The flag, which had flown over an American hospital in Manila, before the war, was recovered from the Japanese by units of the First U.S. Cavalry Division on Luzon in the Philippines. Attending the presentation ceremonies in the Japanese capital are (left to right): Lieutenant Colonel Walter Karfgin, Executive Officer of the hospital; Major Grace E. Dick, Chief Nurse; Mrs. Mac Arthur; and Colonel George H. Yeager, Commanding Officer of the hospital.
